Plate heat exchanger is a very effective heat exchange equipment, and its application is very wide.

The core components of the plate heat exchanger unit are the plate heat exchanger plates and gaskets.

The development level of the sealing gasket directly determines the development level of the plate heat exchanger.

The failure of the seal of the plate heat exchanger is a very important production failure, so what is the reason for the failure of the seal of the plate heat exchanger?

1. pressure

The detachable plate heat exchanger leaks when it is used in the rated working pressure,
In addition to the quality factor of the device in terms of fabrication and assembly,
Generally related to abnormal shock loads in the system,
This is a situation that is not easy for ordinary operators to view,
The instantaneous pressure peak caused by the impact is often about 2 times higher than the normal working pressure,
Displace the rubber gasket installed inside the plate heat exchanger,
Make the plate heat exchanger seal failure,
Because the heat transfer elements of this type of device are produced using stainless steel sheets,
Its sealing rigidity is relatively poor,
At the same time the perimeter of the seal is very long,
Therefore, the performance of impact resistance is lower than that of shell and tube heat exchangers.

2. Time

Equipment that has been in use or has been idle for several years,
The aging of the sealing material itself may affect the sealing reliability,
Therefore, the maintenance opportunity should be used to replace the new sealing gasket in time.

3. Temperature

Rapid changes in temperature can also cause seal failure,
When the temperature changes rapidly,
The coefficient of linear expansion and elastic deformation of the rubber gasket, as well as the seal pretightening force will not match,
The seal preload is reduced,
As a result, the pressure bearing capacity of the device is much lower than the rated design pressure.

 

The above three factors are the main reasons for seal failure. When a seal failure occurs, the cause should be found out as soon as possible and the problem should be solved to avoid unnecessary losses.

In the process industry equipment, the plate heat exchanger is a kind of equipment with high safety requirements. When the gasket is damaged, the external drip is visible.

The plate heat exchanger will have a slight drip at the beginning, and in the process equipment with a large pressure shock, a large leakage may occur due to the damage of the gasket.

Under strong pressure impact, sometimes the gasket can be separated from the correct installation position of the plate heat exchanger, and even come out of the heat exchanger in severe cases.

In this case, stop the equipment immediately and let the heat exchanger cool down to room temperature without pressure.

If the gasket has been deformed under the action of pressure shock, it can no longer restore its original shape and position, and a new gasket should be replaced.

If there is no spare gasket, remove the plates on both sides of the damaged gasket from the entire plate heat exchanger group, and then check the gasket joint surface of the remaining plate heat exchanger plates. Remove the damaged pads and assemble them for temporary emergency.

Then buy a new rubber pad, and then add the plate to achieve the original heat transfer capacity.

Pay attention to the A value, that is, the clamping size, during the disassembly and assembly of the plate heat exchanger.
